Empowering Women: DNTS launches Gender-Based Violence Prevention Course
Following the celebration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, DNTS organized a series of prevention seminars that received an overwhelmingly positive response from associates.
In an effort to combat gender-based violence and empower its workforce, DNTS recently conducted a series of prevention seminars. The initiative aimed to raise awareness and equip participants with the essential skills to navigate potentially risky situations. The initiative followed the celebration of November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, during which DNTS management proactively raised awareness about gender-based violence. As part of this initiative, the company purchased and installed red benches, internationally recognized symbols of solidarity and commitment against gender-based violence.
The prevention seminars, led by experts in the field, focused on legal issues related to gender-based violence and provided practical advice on prevention and risk reduction. The overwhelmingly positive response from associates led to multiple editions of these seminars from January to early March 2024. The company received numerous requests for repeats, demonstrating the importance of such efforts.
The prevention seminars were led by Carmelo Alfio Samperi and Francesco Saccomanno, retired police officers with extensive experience in law enforcement and gender-based violence prevention. Samperi, a former Police Chief and Martial Arts Master, shared self-defense techniques tailored for women through the “Real System of Defense.” Saccomanno, a criminologist who specialized in Forensic Investigation, provided insights into legal remedies and profiling techniques related to stalking.
The seminars covered various aspects of gender-based violence prevention, including common risk situations and practical suggestions to avoid aggression. They also addressed crimes outlined in the “Red Code,” such as stalking and self-defense, with practical demonstrations to equip participants with some basic anti-aggression techniques.
Mr. Samperi and Mr. Saccomanno’s expertise undoubtedly contributed to the success of the seminars, with Samperi’s practical self-defense techniques and Saccomanno’s insights into legal remedies and profiling techniques empowering participants.
The overwhelming enthusiasm demonstrated by associates emphasizes the importance of initiatives focused on gender-based violence prevention, reflecting the urgency of addressing this pervasive issue. At the same time, it emphasizes the need for ongoing education and resources to combat gender-based violence.
The importance of such initiatives cannot be overstated, given the alarming prevalence of gender-based violence globally. By addressing this issue, DNTS demonstrates its commitment to fostering a safe and supportive work environment for all associates. However, DNTS’ commitment to creating a safe and inclusive workplace goes beyond this initiative. The company intends to launch additional projects aimed at combating violence and creating a safer, more equitable environment.
Moving forward, DNTS remains committed to promoting a culture of respect, safety, and inclusion, aligned with its dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). As DNTS continues its efforts, it invites everyone to join in promoting workplaces that value diversity, equity, and inclusion, making a meaningful difference in creating safer communities and workplaces for all.
